The invention discloses a tone quality transition method; the method can search coupled voices from preset source-object phoneme characteristic unit pairs according to processed voice phonemes, and transiting the coupled voice; the method comprises the following steps: extracting characteristics of each voice frame of the processed voice; calculating each voice frame belonging phoneme of the processed voice, and takes continuous frames in the same phoneme as a phoneme set; splitting one phoneme set into one or more phoneme units with the first frame length according to a sequence, wherein adjacent phoneme units mutually overlap at a second frame length; splicing characteristics of each voice frame so as to obtain the characteristic of the corresponding phoneme unit; selecting the object phoneme characteristic unit with the minimum cost from the source-object phoneme characteristic unit pairs according to the phonemes and characteristics of all phoneme units, and taking the object phoneme characteristic unit as the optimal phoneme characteristic unit; splicing time domains of a plurality of the optimal phoneme characteristic units corresponding to the plurality of phoneme units, thus obtaining the voice with the transited tone quality.
