Embodiments of the invention provide a video classification method and apparatus. The method comprises the steps of obtaining video files; extracting key frames of shots in the video files to obtain a plurality of video frames; for each video frame, determining the type of the video frame; performing statistics on the types of all the video frames and a duration of each video frame; and according to a statistics result, classifying the video files.
