The method comprises steps that gestures inputted by a user are acquired by the intelligent gateway through the infrared inductor, and the infrared inductor has L induction regions; target induction regions corresponding to the gestures are determined from the L induction regions; corresponding IFTTT rules are determined according to the target induction regions; whether the gestures satisfy triggering conditions of the IFTTT rules is determined; if yes, a triggering result of the IFTTT rules is executed, and the triggering result comprises operation executed for M pieces of intelligent household equipment. The method is advantaged in that functions of the intelligent household system are realized through the gestures, operation is made to be more convenient and rapid, and user experience is improved.
