Abstract

A computer comprises a network port and a detection unit. The detection unit detects whether there is a network cable connected to the network port and detects whether the IP address of the computer is connected. The computer further comprises a storage unit and a network setting unit. The storage unit stores the IP address information of multiple network cables which can be connected with the computer, wherein the IP address information includes the IP address information of a static IP address and a local area network, the static IP address is not within the network segment of the local area network. The network setting unit switches the IP address information in the network attribute of the computer to the static IP address or dynamically acquires the IP address of the local area network until the IP address of the computer is connected when there is a network cable connected to the network port.
