A database is included in a terminal, wherein the database has at least one primary connection for executing a writing operation on the database and at least two non-primary connections for executing a reading operation on the database; the database reading-writing method comprises the steps that: the terminal obtains the reading operation on the database; if the reading operation is initiated by a first application, the reading operation is executed by the first non-primary connection; the first application is an application in the terminal, wherein the first non-primary connection is pre-set non-primary connection only used for executing the reading operation initiated by the first application; and at least two non-primary connections comprise at least one first non-primary connection. By adoption of the database reading-writing method and apparatus provided by the embodiments, the first non-primary connection is only used for executing the reading operation initiated by the first application, so that it is ensured that the executing efficiency of the reading operation initiated by the first application is not influenced by the reading operation of other applications.
