Abstract

The invention discloses a method for cultivating columnar-shaped Juniperus formosana. The method is used for solving the problem of the existing methods that tree forms of tree bodies cannot be changed fundamentally. The method comprises the following steps: (a) selecting Juniperus formosana, which is high in vitality, free of diseases and insect pests, free of crown leaning and relatively large in body form, as original trees, wherein the crown breadth reaches 2.5m or more, and the tree height is 2.5m or more; (b) sleeving bases of the tree bodies with circular rings from bottom to top, and fixing branches around the circular rings to the circular rings from bases of the branches by using 20# iron wires; (c) inwards bundling up every two to three branches of the branches between every two adjacent circular rings into one bundle; (d) pruning branch tips going beyond the circular rings, and carrying out straight pruning in a manner of reserving 8cm to 10cm above the iron wires of the topmost circular rings, so as to form flat-topping cylindrical forms; and (e) carrying out pruning on branch tips of surface layers of Juniperus formosana columns once at intervals of 15 to 20 days in a growing season according to growth conditions of shaped trees.
