Abstract

The invention discloses an endoscope stapler. A surgical stapler is described that includes a shaft portion and a tool assembly supported on a distal end of the shaft portion. The tool assembly includes an anvil and a cartridge body that rotatably supports a plurality of staples within the recess. At least one firing cam is configured to sequentially engage and rotate each staple to fire the staples from the cartridge body. Each staple includes a first staple leg and a second staple leg axially offset from one another and interconnected by an intermediate portion. At least one firing cam is configured to sequentially engage and rotate each staple to fire the staples from the cartridge body. The at least one firing cam may include an axially offset cam member.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of and priority to US Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 145,857, filed April 10, 2015, the entire disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0003] The present application relates to a surgical stapler, and more particularly, to a surgical stapler for endoscopic use. The present disclosure also relates to surgical staples for use with endoscopic surgical staplers. Background technique [0004] A surgical stapler typically includes a cartridge that holds a plurality of staples, an anvil for shaping the staples as they are ejected from the cartridge, and a knife that simultaneously dissects and staples tissue. The use of surgical staplers to staple and dissect tissue has increased the speed of the surgical procedure and thus minimized patient trauma when compared to the application of manually threaded needle sutures.
