Abstract

The invention discloses a rack with a plurality of rack management modules and a method for updating firmware thereof. Each rack management module includes a Rack Management Controller (RMC), a switcher and an internal storage; the switchers of all the rack management modules are connected each other, and firmware is stored in all the internal storages. When the RMC receives a firmware update file and an update command uploaded from an external device, the RMC issues a switching command to the switcher to command the switcher to switch to of the internal storage of the other rack management module; and when the RMC executes the firmware update program, update of the firmware in the internal storage of the other rack management module is performed through connection of the switchers.
