The mobile terminal comprises: at least one infrared emitter used for emitting infrared lights; at least one infrared receiver used for receiving the infrared lights, wherein a preset angle exists between the at least one infrared receiver and the at least one infrared emitter; and a controller, wherein the controller is connected with the at least one infrared emitter and the at least one infrared receiver, and is used for obtaining the current air index according to the intensity of the infrared lights received by the at least one infrared receiver. The at least one infrared emitter and the at least one infrared receiver are arranged in a shell, and the preset angle exists between the at least one infrared receiver and the at least one infrared emitter, so the mobile terminal can realize detection of the air index without a compressor; and a user can detect the air index anytime and anywhere to conveniently know the current air index, so the user can know the surrounding air quality in real time.
