Problems solved by technology

However, since the handle of the lid is on its upper side, it is difficult to place the lid upside down on a conventional stand or directly onto a surface
Therefore, it is difficult or impossible to reach the handle from under the lid of a hot pan placed on a level surface without burning yourself
Pot lids placed upside down on surfaces are not secure and may fall off the countertop

Embodiment Construction

[0031] first reference figure 1 , denoting the foldable tripod as a whole as 10 . The stand includes a first support portion 12 , a second support portion 14 and a connecting piece 16 . The first supporting part 12 includes a pair of supporting arms 13 , and the second supporting part 14 also includes a pair of supporting arms 15 .

[0032] The support arms 13 , 15 are curved, with opposite concave sides in each pair of support arms 13 , 15 . Each pair of support arms is interconnected at one end by a shaft 18,20. Between the other ends of each pair of support arms facing the shafts 18, 20, there is a space between the support arms. The shaft is fixed to the end of each support arm so that neither support arm of a pair is movable relative to the other support arm of the same pair, or relative to the shaft itself. The support arm and shaft combine to form a broken hoop-like support.

[0033] Shafts 18 , 20 are pivotally mounted on either end of link 16 such that supports 12 ...

Abstract

A collapsible stand 10 comprises a first support section 12, a second support section 14, and a connecting member 16, the first support section 12 being mounted to one end of the connecting member 16 by a first axle 18 and the second support section 14 being mounted to the other end of the connecting member 16 by a second axle 20, the first and second support sections 12, 14 being pivotable relative to the connecting member 16 and the first support section 12 including two support arms 13. The second support section 14 may include two support arms 15. The stand may fold between a first open configuration (Figure 1), suitable for supporting a pan lid, a second open configuration (Figure 2) and a collapsed configuration (Figure 3), suitable for use as a trivet supporting a pan or like hot object. The stand may include a retractable bolt (22 in Figure 5) that engages with a slot (24 in Figure 5) to lock a support section in position.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a stand, particularly but not exclusively to a stand for supporting a pot lid. Background technique [0002] Stands are well known and widely used to protect a surface from heat when it is desired to rest a pan or other hot object on the surface. A tripod typically includes a substantially horizontal support for supporting a hot object. Supports are usually made of cast iron, but can be made of any heat resistant material. The support can be solid, but is usually porous. Porosity reduces mass and material costs, both of which are particularly important considerations when making supports from cast iron. Legs may also be provided for spacing the support, thereby isolating hot objects from the surface. [0003] A conventional tripod effectively supports the pot. However, it is also needed to support the lid at certain times, such as when the chef is stirring or looking at the contents of the corresponding pot. The l...
