[0024] Pulse width modulated (PWM) power conversion systems have improved efficiency over a wide range of operating input voltages and loads. Being able to measure the relative efficiency of an analog PWM system allows for enhanced control while maintaining the benefits of analog control. An analog low-pass filter produces an average value of the PWM pulse train, which is then converted to a digital value by means of an analog-to-digital converter and stored so that the relative efficiency of the PWM power conversion system can be compared for various combinations of operating parameters.
