Problems solved by technology

[0009] However, it may be necessary to stress the specimen in axial tension, so the difficulty lies in finding a way to secure the specimen in tension when the upper and lower tables placed inside the body and the piston are no longer accessible

Embodiment Construction

[0036] The present invention relates to a triaxial unit for performing geotechnical material tests on specimens such as rock, soil or manufactured material, comprising:

[0037] at least one piston 2 for subjecting the sample 3 to a stress directed along the longitudinal axis of the sample;

[0038] a hydraulic device for subjecting the side walls of the sample 3 to stress, in particular radially, under the pressure of a fluid, if necessary by means of an elastic shell 4 enclosing the side walls of the sample 3;

[0039] Said hydraulic device comprises: at least one sealed test cell 5, inside which the test sample is introduced; and a circuit for pressurizing and controlled discharge of said test cell with a so-called pressurized fluid.

[0040] According to the invention, said unit comprises means 7 for subjecting the specimen to tensile restraint, arranged for detachably fixing the specimen between two attachments 8, 9 which 8, 9 are intended to move away from each other or...

Abstract

The invention relates to a triaxial cell for testing geomaterials on specimens. The triaxial cell has at least one piston for subjecting a specimen to stress directed along the longitudinal axis of the specimen. Hydraulic means are provided for subjecting the lateral wall of the specimen to a stress, under the pressure of a fluid. The cell has at least one sealed test chamber-in which the specimen is placed, and a circuit for the controlled pressurization of said test chamber with a fluid, called the pressurizing fluid, and for the controlled draining of said fluid therefrom. The cell has mechanisms for subjecting the specimen to a tensile force, which are configured for removably fastening it between two attachments intended to move apart or closer together under the action of the piston so as to subject said specimen to longitudinal stress or on the contrary to remove the load therefrom.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a triaxial test unit of a geotechnical material such as rock, soil, in particular in the form of a cylindrical test specimen. Background technique [0002] The cylindrically shaped specimen may experience various pressure, loading, temperature and drainage conditions. To control these different parameters, the test cell can be equipped with pressure sensors, temperature sensors, internal or external displacement sensors and strain gauges. Compressive stresses can be axial, generated under the action of a hydraulic piston, or radial, under the action of a pressurized fluid, on the sides of the specimen. [0003] For this purpose, a triaxial test unit is known from documents US 3.975.950 or JP 5.871.432, which needs to be placed in a test machine functioning as a press, which is usually installed in a fixed position in a test room. [0004] In order to make this test unit independent (autonome), the publication "an instrument t...
