Abstract

The invention relates to a single image control method and system for a high density Infiniband switch. The method comprises: 1. a switch management system informs a single image main controller of the GUID (globally unique identifier) of an available switch module; 2. the single image main controller scans an on-line switch board in the switch to assign the GUID to the switch board and unanimously number the externally connected ports of the switch board; 3. the single image main controller updates the arrangement firmware of the switch module by utilizing the assigned GUID of the switch module and the numbers of the ports and resets the switch module; and 4, after confirmation of completion of updating, the single image main controller informs the management system of the switch of the single image status of the switch. According to the invention, a single image is formed by rendering the high density switch as a large-scale single node with a unique identifier in the network and hiding the internal chains and status of the high density switch so as to facilitate the management and network topology maintenance.
