Problems solved by technology

However, having a few planes / panels of magnets and / or many magnets adds not only to the weight and bulk of the device, but also to the cost of manufacturing the device
These deficiencies make existing devices unsuitable for commercial use
Also, for a given size and weight, the magnetic fields generated by existing equipment may not be powerful enough to effectively handle perishable objects

Embodiment Construction

[0092] A schematic diagram of a portion of an apparatus 100 for processing perishable objects is shown in Fig. 1(a). The relative sizes of the various features of device 100 have been exaggerated for illustrative purposes. The device 100 generally includes a magnetic circuit structure 102 that includes a plurality of magnet units 104 that are formed from only one piece of magnetic material (not shown) and that are inhibited from moving relative to each other. The plurality of magnet units 104 are adjacent to each other with a gap 106 defining a boundary 108 between adjacent magnet units 104 to generate a magnetic field generated by magnetic interference of the magnet units 104 . The size of the gap 106 between the magnet units 104 may vary from about 0.05 mm to about 3.00 mm.

[0093] The magnetic field generated by the magnetic disturbance can be directed at the perishable object (not shown) to dispose of the perishable object. The magnetic interference of the magnet units ...

Abstract

The present invention discloses a device for treating perishable objects or liquids and a method of fabricating the device. The method comprising breaking a single piece of magnetic material into a plurality of pieces; inhibiting movement of the pieces with respect to each other during the breaking of the magnetic material; and forming a magnetic structure comprising the plurality of pieces of the magnetic material.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention broadly relates to an apparatus for handling perishable objects or liquids and a method of manufacturing the apparatus. Background technique [0002] Typically, perishable items such as raw seafood, poultry, meat, and dairy products spoil over time. An important factor affecting the rate of deterioration is water activity. Water activity affects the shelf life, safety, structure, aroma and odor of foods, and the stability of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. In addition, water activity affects the activity of enzymes and vitamins in food and deteriorates fats and proteins, which in turn affect the color, taste and smell of food. [0003] Water activity is a measure of the energy state of water in a system. Some factors that affect water activity are water binding strength, water dissociation, and solubility of solutes in water. Water activity also determines the lower limit suitable for microbial growth. The lower the water acti...
