A decoder with elastic length comprises a plurality of data filtering units and a control unit. The data filtering units compare the data series flow according to the corresponding sample and output the comparing result. The control unit controls the configuration of the data filtering units. If the space of any data filtering unit storing the sample is not enough to record the comparing sample, the control unit combines two or more of the data filtering units to be an equivalent filtering unit so that the equivalent filtering unit stores the sample and compares.
