The method includes: set up a maximum networking terminal number in the gateway; determine the current networking terminal number, when the gateway confirm that a received network access request is from a new terminal; the gateway refuses the network access request, when confirming the current networking terminal number is greater than or equivalent to the maximum networking terminal number. The number of networking terminal is controlled by setting up the maximum networking terminal number in the gateway, and then analyzing the network access request by the gateway, and refusing the network access request from the new terminal when the current networking terminal number is greater than or equivalent to the maximum networking terminal number.
