[0065] FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing an exemplary internal structure of the first embodiment of the digital camera 10 shown in FIG. 1 .

[0066] The overall operation of the digital camera 10 is controlled by a central processing unit (CPU) 30 . The CPU 30 functions as a control device that controls the camera system according to a predetermined program; it also functions as a computing device that executes various types of calculations such as automatic exposure (AE) calculations, automatic focus (AF) calculations, or white balance (WB) adjustments operation.

[0067] The memory 32 connected to the CPU 30 through the bus 31 includes a ROM which stores programs executed by the CPU 30 and various types of data required for control; and a temporary storage area for image data. The VRAM 34 is a temporary memory dedicated to image data, and includes areas A and B in which image data is alternately read and written.

[0068] The digital camera 10 is provided with an operatio...

[0118] Fig. 6 is a block diagram showing an exemplary internal structure of a second embodiment (digital camera 10-2) of the image pickup apparatus according to the present invention. It is to be noted that the same reference numerals are used to designate the same elements as those of the digital camera 10 in FIG. 2, and detailed descriptions thereof are omitted.

[0119] The digital camera 10-2 of the second embodiment shown in FIG. 6 differs from the digital camera 10 of the first embodiment shown in FIG. 2 in that it has a camera shake compensation function.

[0120] More specifically, the digital camera 10-2 has a motor driver 72 for vibrating (part of) the photographing lens 40 right and left or up and down. The CPU 30 detects camera shake of the digital camera 10 - 2 based on the angular velocity signal of the angular velocity sensor 70 , and controls the motor driver 72 to remove the camera shake and optically prevent the occurrence of the camera shake.

[0135] FIG. 8 is a block diagram showing an exemplary internal structure of a third embodiment (digital camera 10-3) of the image pickup apparatus according to the present invention. It is to be noted that the same reference numerals are used to designate the same elements as those of the digital camera 10 in FIG. 2, and detailed descriptions thereof are omitted.

[0136] The digital camera 10-3 of the third embodiment shown in FIG. 8 differs from the first embodiment mainly in that it has a motion vector detection circuit 80 capable of detecting a motion vector of a subject instead of the first embodiment. The angular velocity sensor 70 in the example.

[0137] The motion vector detection circuit 80 detects the amount and direction of movement (motion vector) on the screen between one image and the next image based on the live preview continuously acquired from the CCD 40 or the like. The information representing the motion vector is added to the CPU 30 .

Abstract

An aspect of the present invention provides a method for displaying a face detection frame in an image-taking device, which obtains an image signal representing a subject continuously at a predetermined cycle, displays a live video preview on a display device (15) based on the obtained image signal and detects a face of the subject included in the live preview based on the obtained image signal, and superimposes a face detection frame surrounding the detected face of the subject on the live preview for display on the display device, wherein the movement of the image-taking device from the time of obtaining the image used for the face detection is detected, and wherein the display position of the face detection frame is corrected according to the detected movement of the image-taking device on the basis of the display position of the face detection frame relative to the image used for the face detection.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method of displaying a face detection frame, a method of displaying character information, and an imaging device, and more particularly, to a technique for making the position of a face detection frame and the like suitable for a live preview. Background technique [0002] A digital camera capable of detecting a face from a subject has become commercially practical. These cameras are capable of capturing images of subjects with proper focus and exposure by detecting faces and performing automatic focus control (AF) and automatic exposure control (AE) in the face area, even though AF and AE based on normal imaging are difficult of. Furthermore, when such a digital camera detects a face, it can display a face detection frame in a detection area so that the operator can determine whether the digital camera has detected a face. [0003] Japanese Laid-Open Patent Application No. 2005-286940 discloses a digital camera cap...
