[0066] Table 1 shows the effect of three different conditions on the hysteresis properties of the mesh material with the retraction force mechanism: (i) oval mesh itself - "control"; (ii) two layers of oval mesh one on top of the other overlapping each other on top; and (iii) having an oval mesh reinforcing layer at an angle of 30° to the fabric 10.

[0067] The following materials were used to form the samples shown in the table:

Abstract

The present invention relates to stretchable webs (10) having a plurality of elongated cells (12), and a retractive force mechanism to provide increased retractive force of the web when stretched in a given direction. The stretchable webs are useful in disposable garments such as diapers, bandages and other hygiene material so that the material fists closely without slipping off.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to stretchable webs, and more particularly to webs made of less elastic materials for use in clothing. The present invention also relates to a laminate comprising the stretchable fabric, wherein the laminate has relatively low elasticity. Background technique [0002] Stretchable fabrics are used in disposable and non-disposable garments to increase garment comfort and fit. The stretchable fabric is used as armbands, belts and other inlays for garments. Stretchable fabrics are used throughout the garment to provide a more comfortable drape throughout the garment. [0003] Stretchable fabrics commonly used in disposable and non-disposable garments include elastic materials. The main disadvantage of elastic materials is the manufacturing cost of such materials. Accordingly, it would be desirable to have a stretchable fabric that is manufactured from low cost materials and yet fulfills the desired variety of use...
