Abstract

Disclosed herein is a styling shampoo composition comprising (a) about 5-50% by weight of a surfactant component having an anionic moiety at the pH of the composition; (b) about 0.025-3% by weight of a cationic deposit Polymer; (c) about 0.1-10% by weight of a malodor-producing hair styling polymer; d) 0.0075-2.5% by weight of an odor masking base; and (e) about 25-94.5% by weight of water. The odor-masking base comprises (based on the weight of the base) about 15-75% by weight of citronone perfume with a boiling point higher than about 250°C, about 5-65% by weight of musk with a boiling point higher than about 250°C, and about 20- 80% by weight highly volatile fragrances having a boiling point below about 250°C. The present invention also relates to such styling shampoo compositions further comprising an odor-generating liquid carrier for dissolving or dispersing the odor-generating polymer in the composition. The odor-masking base of the compositions of the present invention helps to mask the odor of the odor-causing polymer and / or the odor-causing liquid carrier.
