Abstract

The invention discloses a video-based fast dynamic point cloud coding method and system, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining a coding tree unit of a video frame, determining the block type of a CU through calculating an occupation graph in the coding tree unit, and enabling the CU to represent a coding unit; traversing the coding tree units by using a fast coding mode decision scheme todetermine a coding mode; and using the fast coding decision scheme for determining a coding mode in a mode of selectively skipping blocks by utilizing rate distortion optimization characteristics of different block types. The method has the advantages that compared with the prior art, the rate distortion optimization characteristics of different block types are researched to accelerate the encoding of geometric and attribute videos, so that the encoding efficiency is greatly improved; and the method has the characteristics of high encoding quality, high encoding speed and the like.
