[0024] The drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale. In the drawings, the same reference numbers indicate similar or equivalent elements. Some illustrated acts or events may occur in different orders and / or concurrently with other acts or events. Also, some of the illustrated acts or events are optional.

[0025] As used herein, the terms "coupled to" or "coupled with" (and the like) describe an indirect or direct electrical connection without further qualification. Thus, if a first device is "coupled" to a second device, that connection may be through a direct electrical connection where only parasitic effects exist in the path, or through an indirect electrical connection via intermediaries comprising other devices and connections. For indirect coupling, the intermediate term generally does not modify the signal's information, but may adjust its current level, voltage level, and / or power level.

Abstract

A method of data compression includes obtaining binary sensor data (210) having rows with multi-bit data samples. The rows are divided into data groups (G1, G2, G3, G4), each including two or more samples. A precedent value is selected for the rows, or respective precedent values are selected for each data group. A compressed row of compressed sensor data (220) is generated from each row by calculating differences between the data sample and the precedent value for its associated data groups. A Compression Information Packet (CIP) is generated for each row, including information for returningthe binary sensor data that includes a compressed predicate (225) indicating whether each data group is stored compressed, a data group size being a multi-bit value that stores a group size used for row compression, and a compressed word size that stores a dynamic range of the row compression. The compressed rows are stored as stored compressed data along with the CIPs.

Description

[0001] This generally relates to methods for losslessly compressing and storing digital data, which involves organizing pixel information within memory. Background technique [0002] Techniques for compressing data are commonly used in communications and computing. In communications, there is often a need to transmit compressed data strings that can be reconstructed into their original form upon receipt. Transmitting compressed data takes less time than transmitting the same data in uncompressed format. In computers, compressed data offers storage advantages over uncompressed data. Therefore, for a storage device with a fixed storage capacity, more compressed files can be stored therein. [0003] Data compression techniques can be divided into two main categories: lossy and lossless. Lossless data compression techniques are used when it is required that information cannot be lost during compression / decompression. Lossy data techniques are less accurate than lossless techni...
