The embodiment of the invention discloses a method and a device for generating a file. A specific embodiment of the method comprises the steps of obtaining a target file comprising a plurality of rowsand a plurality of columns; determining at least one title line based on the plurality of lines, the title line corresponding to a segment included in the target file, the title line including at least one title item; for each title line in the at least one title line, determining a data type of a segment corresponding to the title line based on the title item included in the title line; obtaining a preset title library corresponding to the determined data type; matching the title line with the obtained title library; and based on the matching result, generating a standard file which corresponds to the title line and contains data contained in the standard title line and the corresponding subsection. The data cleaning method and device are helpful for improving the efficiency and accuracyof data cleaning.
