Problems solved by technology

Also, since the drug will now be under pressure, there is a risk that the user may inadvertently empty the syringe contents into the air if the user realizes the mistake and subsequently removes the shield
[0008] Users may not have enough of the drug, so this waste can be a serious problem
Waste may also be undesirable due to cost (some drugs can be very expensive)

Abstract

There is provided an injection device for delivering a medicament from a container. The device comprises, a housing for housing a container, a plunger substantially housed within the housing and whichis movable within the housing, a force applicator for applying a force to the plunger, a trigger (5) coupled to the force applicator for releasing the force applicator to fire the device, a boot (2),a dose selector (4) for allowing a user to select a dose of medicament, and a first mechanical interlock arranged such that the force applicator cannot be released until the dose selector has been operated to select the dose of medicament, and a second mechanical interlock arranged such that the dose selector cannot be operated to select the dose of medicament prior to removal of the boot.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an injection device for delivering a medicament from a container. Background technique [0002] Injection devices, such as automatic injection devices, are routinely used in the medical field to deliver measured doses of medicaments to users. Typically, injection devices have a user-friendly design, allowing them to be used safely by patients for self-administration, although in some cases they can also be used by trained personnel. They can be designed to be carried by the user for ready use; in this case, they should be as small and unobtrusive as possible to improve user compliance. Autoinjection devices for self-administration of parenteral medications include single-dose and multi-dose reusable and disposable auto-injectors and pen-injectors (e.g. insulin pens) that are suitable for a wide range of primary containers, The containers include prefilled glass and plastic syringe barrels and prefilled drug cartridges...
