The present invention relates to a defecation training device and method for a companion animal, the device comprising: a pad storage unit for storing defecation pads; a pad disposal unit rolling a defecation pad in a roll shape and disposing of the rolled defecation pad when the companion animal defecates on the defecation pad supplied to a defecation stand; an image processing unit for photographing the defecation pad and processing the captured image; and a control unit analyzing the image processed by the image processing unit so as to determine whether the companion animal has defecated and, in a defecated state as the determination result, controlling an operation of the pad disposal unit such that the defecation pad having been defecated on is disposed of and a new defecation pad issupplied to the defecation stand, thereby obtaining effects of enabling an image obtained by photographing a defecation pad to be analyzed so as to accurately determine whether the companion animal has defecated, enabling the defecation pad to be automatically disposed of when defecation is confirmed, and enabling defecation training to be induced by providing snacks or feed to the companion animal having defecated in the correct position and conveying, as a reward, interest and praise of an owner through a video or voice call.
