[0021] In the present disclosure, a radiotherapy system and a corresponding method for localizing and tracking a tumor in the anatomy of a patient undergoing radiotherapy treatment are presented. Specifically, during radiotherapy treatment planning, multiple 3D magnetic resonance images (MRI) or 4D MRI images are captured. The precise location of a target (eg, a tumor in a patient's anatomy) can be determined by the radiation therapy system using segmentation techniques known in the art. After the location of the tumor is determined, the system can generate multiple image patches and can determine the offset from the center of the image patch to the tumor. Radiation therapy systems can enhance selected features of multiple image patches using methods such as correlation or using appearance modeling techniques, which lead to multiple adaptive filter models. These adaptive filter models can then be used by the radiotherapy system during the actual "online" treatment of the pati...
