Abstract

The invention provides an IP address monitoring method which comprises the steps of receiving a monitoring instruction which comprises monitored IP address information, and receiving information which is transmitted by a service module that requires monitoring of the IP address and represents the to-be-monitored IP address; transmitting a detecting message to the IP address according to the monitoring instruction; if a response message which corresponds with the detecting message is received in a preset time interval, confirming a fact that the IP address is in an effective state; if no response message which corresponds with the detecting message is received in the preset time interval, confirming a fact that the IP address is in a failed state; and transmitting state information of the IP address to the service module. The IP address monitoring method provided by the invention can prevent repeated monitoring and resource wastage caused by monitoring of the same IP address by different service modules, thereby improving performance of a network system.
