Abstract

The invention provides an IPv6 transition method and device. The method comprises the steps of judging whether a destination IPv6 address of a request message contains a destination IPv4 address or not when the request message sent by an IPv6 host is received; converting a source IPv6 address of the request message into a synthesized address containing a source IPv4 address if the destination IPv6 address of the request message contains the destination IPv4 address; recording an address converting relationship of the source IPv6 address and the synthesized address; and sending the request message to an NAT64 gateway, thereby enabling the NAT64 gateway to forward the request message to an IPv4 server according to the source IPv4 address and the destination IPv4 address in the request message. Therefore, the number of table items and the number of backtrace logs on the NAT64 gateway can be reduced, and the forwarding efficiency of the NAT64 gateway is further improved.
