Abstract

The invention provides a distributed file storage system and method. File names of the stored files are SHA1 values of the files. The system comprises a plurality of storage nodes and managing nodes; the managing nodes are in communication coupling with the storage nodes, and manage the storage nodes; the storage nodes express minimum memory management units by primary directory; memory capacity of the storage nodes are divided into one or more memory units according to the minimum memory management units, and is expressed by one or more letters of predetermined positions in the file names of the stored files according to priority serial numbering and names of secondary directories of the storage nodes. According to the invention, retrieval and positioning of the files can be accelerated.
