Benefits of technology

This innovation relates to an improved connector system called Connect Lock (CLL). It uses three different types of connections: one connectors securely hold two parts together while another holds them tight against each other; bolts or threads help keep these components fixed even if they get bent over due to external factors like vibrations or temperature changes. These improvements make this design more reliable than existing systems but also lighterweight compared to older designs.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed in this patents relates to improving safety during space vehicle docking operations due to potential issues caused by collisional forces between objects when hitting one another.

Abstract

The invention provides a connecting lock for spacecraft docking, relates to a connecting lock and aims at solving the problem that an existing connecting lock mechanism is large in weight and low in reliability. The connecting lock for spacecraft docking comprises a stud support connected with a driving-end spacecraft and a nut support connected with a driven-end spacecraft and further comprises a motor, a motor blocking plate, a coupler, a bearing, a bearing end cover, a stud, a nut, a connecting key, a compression spring and a nut end cover, wherein the top face of the motor is fixed on the bottom face of the stud support through the motor blocking plate, the top end and the bottom end of the stud respectively extend into the nut support and the stud support, a motor shaft is connected with the bottom end of the stud through the coupler, the bearing is arranged between the stud and the stud support, the lower end of an angular contact ball bearing is fixed by a shaft shoulder on the stud support, the upper end of the angular contact ball bearing is fixed by the bearing end cover, and the nut is peripherally positioned to the nut support through the connecting key. The connecting lock for spacecraft docking is used for rigid connection of the driving spacecraft and the driven spacecraft.
