Abstract

The variable NPK fertilizer applicator comprises a tractor and a fertilizing system hung behind the tractor, wherein the fertilizing system comprises a fertilizer tank, a fertilizer discharge control mechanism and a GPS positioning system; the fertilizer discharge control mechanism is connected with the GPS positioning system and the fertilizer tank respectively to achieve variable fertilizer application; the fertilizer discharge control mechanism performs variable fertilizer application according to the fertilizing formulation. The method for determining the fertilizing formulation comprises the following steps: determining the sampling density of a sampling point and determining the available nutrient content at the sampling point; determining the fertilizing amount at the sampling point according to nutrient demand of crops as well as the determined available nutrient content; with the combination of the sampling density of the sampling point and the fertilizing amount at the sampling point, performing spatial interpolation analysis to generate a fertilizing formulation map for the sampling point.
