Problems solved by technology

However, these cameras are not suitable for optically recording the correct parking of the vehicle in the parking position
Other systems, such as induction rings inserted in the ground, require a higher construction cost than optical systems and offer too little accuracy just in the edge region of the parking position

Embodiment Construction

[0028] exist figure 1shows a parking lot 1 with a plurality of parking spaces 2 for one vehicle 3 each. The parking places 2 can be reached from a common entrance 5 via a front traffic surface 4 . The entrance 5 is for example provided with a railing 6, although this is not mandatory. The individual parking locations 2 are each demarcated or separated from one another by floor markings 7 , 7 ′. The ground marking 7 can for example be painted onto the ground with a color or (as in the case of the ground marking 7') be projected onto the ground as a light marking by one or more lighting units 8, for example in the form of a light fan 9, as will be described later. elaborated in more detail.

[0029] Each of the vehicles using the parking lot 1 has, in a conventional manner, one or more license plate plates 10 on which its vehicle license plate 11 is embossed in an optically readable manner. Furthermore, the vehicle 3 has on board radio-interrogable vehicle units (on-board un...

Abstract

The parking lot (1) has a reservation system having a common radio beacon unit (15) and a camera unit (17) that are provided at an entrance (5) for reading out of radio identifier (14) and vehicle identifier (11) of an entering vehicle (3) respectively. Each parking space (2) is provided with a fixed camera unit (23) for performing optical character recognition (OCR) reading of a vehicle registration plate of parked vehicle. The central computer is adapted to verify whether data read by fixed mounted camera unit is identical to data read by camera unit mounted at entrance.

Description

[0001] This application claims priority from European Patent Application No. 11 450 037.4, the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference. technical field [0002] The invention relates to a device for monitoring a parking space for a vehicle, with a camera unit assigned to the parking space and mounted on the parking space for recording images of a license plate on the front side of the vehicle. The invention also relates to a parking lot with a plurality of parking places for vehicles each equipped with such a device. Background technique [0003] Parking lot monitoring systems are known in many variants. In US 6 107 942 A is disclosed a system for detecting the occupancy of parking spaces in a parking lot, wherein a plurality of differently oriented marking lines are drawn on the ground of each parking space and each parking space has a camera , the camera detects the occupancy of the parking position by a vehicle on the beam path by means of the covering of...
