The invention provides a dual-card dual-standby communication terminal and a dual-card control method thereof so as to solve a problem that a traditional dual-card dual-standby communication terminal cannot automatically control use conditions of a master card and a sub-card. The method comprises the steps of reading identification information of intelligent card chips in two card slots in the process of power-on detection of the dual-card dual-standby communication terminal; comparing the read identification information of the intelligent card chips with identification information stored in the dual-card dual-standby communication terminal to determine the master card and the sub-card; and judging the status of the master card and the sub-card, and terminating use of the sub-card when the master card does not exist or is abnormal in use. The dual-card dual-standby communication terminal and the dual-card control method thereof automatically control using permissions of the dual cards in the dual-card dual-standby communication terminal under the condition of ensuring that interference of other external conditions are not required, thereby simplifying a control method of the master card and the sub-card, and improving the utilization rate of network resources.
