Abstract

The invention provides an identification method of multi-scale vehicles in outdoor video surveillance. The identification method of the multi-scale vehicles in the outdoor video surveillance includes a first step of applying normalization processing, normalizing vehicle objects of different scales into three scales including a small scale, a medium scale and a large scale, and conducting histogram equalization reinforcement processing on vehicle objects of the small scale; a second step of extracting scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) characteristics under the three scales, and reinforcing characteristic description of the vehicle objects of the small scale on the basis of extracted SIFT characteristics through a space pyramid matching method; a third step of expressing the characteristics through a bag of words (BOW) model; and a fourth step of using a support vector machine to train to generate three corresponding classifiers aiming at the vehicle objects of the three scales. When online identification is conducted, according to the range of the scale of an object to be identified, a user selects and uses a corresponding classifier to conduct identification. The identification method of the multi-scale vehicles in the outdoor video surveillance effectively improves accuracy of identification of the multi-scale vehicles.
