Embodiment Construction

[0017] It should be pointed out that the following detailed description is directly aimed at a device for assisting carbon dioxide sampling in the process of human exhalation. This device does not limit the specific size and structure. to multiple sizes and configurations.

[0018] As shown in Figures 1a, 1b and 1c, in the first embodiment of the present invention, a device for assisting in carbon dioxide sampling during a person's exhalation. A single nasal plug (10) can be inserted into one nostril of a person to allow gas to enter the nasal plug from the nasal cavity, and a first inner cavity (20) is provided on it, allowing the gas in the nasal cavity to communicate with the surrounding external air through the inner cavity. The nasal plug (10) also has a second inner cavity (30), and the second inner cavity (30) is located in the aforementioned first inner cavity (20). The cross sections of the first inner cavity (20) and the second inner cavity (30) are both circular. ...

Abstract

Provided is a device to facilitate carbon dioxide sampling in the exhalation breath of a person comprising a single nasal prong (10) insertable into a nostril of the person having a first lumen (20) which allows gas passage from the nostril to the surrounding external air, a second lumen (34) located within the first lumen (20). A tube (40) is connected at a first end (42) to an end of the second lumen (34) that is further from the nostril and connectable at a second end (44) to a carbon dioxide monitoring device (50). The carbon dioxide monitoring device (50) detects the level of carbon dioxide in the portion of the person's exhalation that passes through the second lumen (34). The portion of the person's exhalation that passes through the first lumen (20) is dispersed in the surrounding air.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a device for assisting in the sampling of carbon dioxide during exhalation, and more particularly, the device has a single nasal plug. Background technique [0002] A number of devices exist today that can measure carbon dioxide levels during a person's exhalation. For example, US Patent No. 1,926,027 describes a breathing apparatus with a tube connected to a deflation port. U.S. Patent No. 2,248,477 relates to an aerosol mask with an airflow communication between the inner chamber and the outer chamber. US Patent No. 2,795,223 describes a device having a tube with a blow nozzle and a side conduit connected to a chamber. In US Patent No. 4,201,205, the use of a non-elastically bendable hose is disclosed that extends around the user's ears and under the chin. U.S. Patent No. 4,258,710 relates to a breathing mask with several cavities on one side of the mask, a cup in the front, an opening in the cup, a valve...
