Abstract

The invention relates to the Ethernet technology and discloses a method and a device of power over Ethernet. A PD (powered device) is used to input power through a POE (power over Ethernet) port. Electricity is obtained from external PSE (power sourcing equipment). The obtained electricity is supplied to a terminal device and at least one second PSE. The PD of the POE port is connected with the second PSE and the second PSE supplies power to the PD. By means of cascade PSE, one single external PSE can not only supply power to the PD which is connected with the PSE through the POE port but supply power to one or multiple sequential cascade PDs, so that power supply efficiency of the PSE is enhanced effectively. The second PSE can obtain electricity from the POE port directly so that efficiency of energy conversion is further enhanced.
