The input device comprises an input unit, a display unit and a control unit, wherein the input unit is a touch screen or at least comprises twelve keys. Firstly, a simplified syllabification method is used, the initial consonant string of a Chinese character string to be input is selected, then whether a correct Chinese character string exists in candidate Chinese character strings or not is checked, if so, the correct Chinese character string is selected, and if not, the closest Chinese character string is selected; and then a binary syllabification method is used, and incorrect characters are revised by inputting compound vowels (or key positions) indicated by the screen till the target Chinese character string is obtained.
