Abstract

Systems and methods for soft tissue reconstruction using one or more soft tissue fixation devices are disclosed. In certain embodiments, these systems and methods are used to reconstruct defects or abnormalities in the female pelvic floor by using one or more fixation devices to correct the defect or abnormality.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the use of soft tissue fixator and force applicator devices and accessories used in revision soft tissue surgery. Background technique [0002] A number of surgical procedures are well known in the art for the adhesion of tissues to each other thereby repairing their pathophysiological abnormalities. For example, tissue that has become abnormally loose or stretched or torn can allow structures or organs to misplace so that their physiological function is altered. Structural misalignment due to loss of support in specific body regions is referred to as "ptosis," although the term may not generally be used to refer to malpositions in other specific body regions (eg, female pelvis). Improper positioning of tissues or organs due to loss of support is seen in pelvic disorders such as cystocele and prolapse of the anus, and in prolapse of the uterus or vaginal vault in undisturbed prolapse. Repairing loose, torn o...
