Embodiment Construction

[0022] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0023] FIG. 1 schematically shows a device 1 according to the invention for coating the surface of an object 2 as a preferred embodiment of the invention. The object 2 to be coated can be, for example, a plate-shaped or strip-shaped workpiece frequently used in the furniture industry and preferably at least partially consists of wood, wooden materials, plastic materials or the like. However, it should be noted that the invention is also applicable to other types of workpieces or items.

[0024] The plant 1 firstly has a conveyor device 20 which can be designed, for example, in the form of a conveyor belt, a conveyor table, a conveyor chain, or the like. In this embodiment, two portal frames 4 are arranged above the conveying device 20 , and the portal frames 4 can also be configured as cantilevers (jib) or the like, for example. At least one ...

Abstract

The method involves providing articles (2) e.g. plate or strip-like workpiece, with a surface to be coated. A coating is produced on the surface by a coating head (10), where the head is provided with outlets for a coating material e.g. preset type of ink. A desired gloss value of the coated surface is selected from a gloss scale measured as a reflectometer value to Indian standard organization (ISO) 2817 before producing the coating. The coating material is ejected out of the outlets onto the surface so that the selected gloss value of the coated surface is obtained. An independent claim is also included for a device for coating a surface of an article.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for coating the surface of an object, in particular a workpiece, according to the preamble of claim 1 , and a device for carrying out the method. Background technique [0002] Various methods and apparatuses are known in the field of the furniture industry for coating objects such as plate-like workpieces (and, if appropriate, forming patterns on these objects). [0003] Thus, for example, EP 1 726 443 A1 discloses a method and a device for coating and simultaneously patterning the narrow side of a plate-shaped workpiece by means of an inkjet print head. In this way, any desired pattern can be produced on the workpiece surface. However, it has been found that despite the high print resolution, applied patterns that depend on basic stripes (such as wood or natural stone textures) do not feel realistic or realistic, that is, the overall appearance of the applied cladding needs improvement. Contents of the invention ...
