Embodiment Construction

[0016] Embodiments of the invention provide a method, system and computer program product for filtering and sorting activity objects in an activity-centric computing environment. According to an embodiment of the present invention, activity objects spanning multiple different activity threads in an activity-centric collaboration environment can be filtered according to selected filtering criteria. Additionally, the filtered active objects can be sorted according to selected sort criteria. In this way, the collaborators can browse the selection of active objects regardless of the active thread in which the active object appears.

[0017] In further illustration, Figures 1A and 1B taken together are an illustration of a unified activity manager configured for sorting and filtering activities. The unified activities manager 100 may include several views including: activities list view 110 , activities view 120 , people and roles view 130 and activity map 140 . The activity list...

Abstract

A method, system and apparatus for creating and managing an activity in a collaborative environment. In a preferred aspect of the present invention, a unified activity manager for use in a collaborative environment can include an activity list including a hierarchical listing of activities. Each of the activities can include at least one task. The unified activity manager further can include an activity view including a rendering of properties associated with a selected activity in the activity view. Finally, the unified activity manager yet further can include a persons and roles view including at least a listing of collaborators available for association with the selected activity in the activity view.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of collaborative computing, in particular to activity-centered collaborative computing. Background technique [0002] Collaborative computing refers to the use of computing applications by two or more end users to achieve a common goal. Collaborative computing, originally conceived as a document-sharing technology among members of small workgroups in a collaborative environment, has grown to include a variety of technologies strategically configured to facilitate collaboration among groups, so Groups can be as small as two people, or as large as a worldwide community. Therefore, different collaborative applications can focus on groups of different sizes. A modern collaborative environment is no longer limited to document sharing, but can include document libraries, chat rooms, video conferencing, application sharing, and forums, to name just a few. [0003] Collaborative computing applications enjoy important advan...
