Problems solved by technology

Consequently, the valve plunger is at risk for further or complete slippage from the support element, since the valve plunger is no longer sufficiently aligned on the cam when it comes into contact with its cam again due to the narrow cam contact surface.

Embodiment Construction

[0021] 3 and 4 show the cam follower 1 and the support element 2 on which it is rotatably mounted, which support element is designed with play compensation here with a hydraulic valve not shown in detail. In a known manner, the cam follower 1 is driven by the cam 3 in the actuation direction of the gas exchange valve 5 by means of a rotatably mounted roller 4 connected to the cam follower 1 . It is obviously also possible to provide a smooth surface rigidly connected to the cam follower 1 as a cam contact instead of the roller 4 . The cam follower 1 is, in the exemplary embodiment shown, a rocker pin, has a U-shaped cross-section and is preferably produced in a forming method from a sheet material.

[0022] As can also be seen from the described figures, the cam follower 1 has a spherical shape 6 , by means of which it is attached to the spherical end 7 of the support element 2 . Underneath the spherical end 7 there is an annular groove 8 in which the connecting element 9 or ...

Abstract

The invention relates to a connection element (9, 10) for the captive mounting of a lever-like cam follower (1) which is used to actuate a gas exchange valve (5) of an internal combustion engine, on a support element (2). Said support element comprises a spherical end (7) whereon the cam follower (1) is pivotably mounted by means of a concave moulding (6). The connection element (9, 10) is made of a flat material and is arranged, with a central section (11), on a lower side (12) of the base (13) which is oriented towards the support element (2), which surrounds the concave moulding (6) and is connected to the lateral walls (27) of the cam follower (1). The central section (11) forms, with two limbs (14) which are arranged at a distance from each other, in addition to a web connected thereto (15), a U-shaped recess (16) which extends in the longitudinal direction of the cam follower (1), which is used to surround, in an essentially play-free manner, the annular-shaped groove (8) below the spherical end (7) in a fork-like manner and orthogonal in relation to the direction of pivoting of the cam follower (1). The limbs (14) extend in the form of retaining grips (17) about an approximately 90 DEG angle and the web (15) extends in a support wall (18) about an approximately 90 DEG angle. Retaining lugs (19, 20) are engaged on an upper side (21) of the base (13) which is orientated away from the support element (2), in order to fix the connection element (9, 10) to the cam follower (1). The retaining lugs (17) are supported on the inner side (26) of the lateral walls (27) of the cam follower (1) such that the U-shaped recess (16) is essentially fixed in relation to the perpendicular position thereof to the cam follower (1) and the shape thereof.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a connecting element for securely holding a rod-shaped cam follower against loosening a support element with a spherical end for actuating a gas exchange valve of an internal combustion engine. The cam follower is rotatably mounted on the spherical end by means of a spherical shape. In this case, the connecting element made of flat material rests with a central section on the underside of the bottom facing the support element, which surrounds the spherical shape and connects the side walls of the cam follower. Together with the two spaced-apart legs and the web connecting the legs, the connecting element forms a longitudinal U-shaped groove of the cam follower, which fork-like surrounds an annular groove in the spherical end. Background technique [0002] As is known, such a connecting element can realize a generating unit which, for example, contains a pressure lever as a cam follower and a support element. Thus, with such a...
