Problems solved by technology

Therefore, in addition to the influence of direct sunlight or wind and rain, the possibility of pressing the tear line due to external factors such as hand contact or mischief by the occupant when getting on and off the car increases.
Due to the above reasons, if the tear line is broken, it will affect the inflation and deployment of the airbag.
[0008] The technologies in Patent Documents 1 and 2 are all based on the premise of being used in an indoor environment in a four-wheeled vehicle, so there is no disclosure or hint about the problem when it is applicable to the above-mentioned two-wheeled motor vehicle.

Embodiment Construction

[0020] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic explanatory diagram of a motorcycle 1 according to one embodiment of the present invention. The frame 2 of the motorcycle 1 is mainly composed of a pair of left and right upper pipes 2L and 2R (not shown) extending obliquely rearward and downward from the head pipe 3 of the vehicle body. The down tube 4 extends downward from the vicinity of the head pipe 3 of the top tubes 2L and 2R, and an engine 15 as a driving source is fixedly suspended at the front end thereof. A pair of left and right front forks 7 steerable by a handle 4 are pivotally supported on the head pipe 3 via a lower bracket 6 , and a front wheel WF is pivotally supported at the lower end of the front forks 7 . In addition, a seat frame 5 supporting the main seat 10, the rear seat 11, etc. is connected to the rear of the vehicle body of the frame 2, and on the rear end of...

Abstract

To provide an air bag module cover structure suited to use for a motorcycle, by enhancing toughness and the like. Tear lines as brittle portions are provided not in the surface of a module cover (22) liable to influences of external factors such as rain, dust, etc. but at upper portions of three side surfaces other than the side surface facing to the vehicle front side, of four side surfaces of a roughly rectangular parallelopiped-shaped air bag module (20). Three tear lines are provided; specifically, both side surfaces facing in the vehicle width direction are each provided with a first tear line (26) at portion B shown in the figure, and a second tear line (27) is provided in portion C shown in the figure other than portions D shown in the figure as slits (4) for passing air bag support belts therethrough. Therefore, at the time of inflation and development of the air bag, the module cover (22) is developed in such a manner as to open a lid, with one side on the vehicle front side of a casing (23) as an axis. Besides, at one side on the vehicle front side, stoppers are formed to make it difficult for the module cover (22) to be opened beyond a predetermined angle.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a safety air bag module cover structure, in particular to a safety air bag module cover structure suitable for two-wheel motor vehicles. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, various studies have been conducted on applying an airbag module capable of effectively restraining an occupant when an impact of a predetermined value or more is applied to a vehicle body to a motorcycle. Generally, a substantially box-shaped airbag module that integrally accommodates a folded airbag and an inflator for inflating and deploying the airbag is provided with a tear as a weak portion on the surface of the airbag module cover that is a predetermined deployment surface. As for the tear line, when the airbag is inflated and deployed, the gas generated by the inflator is used to increase the pressure of the airbag, and the pressure tears the tear line to deploy the airbag. The tear line has a fragility to be properly ruptured when...
