Embodiment Construction

[0015] Embodiments of the invention relate to simplifying the process of assembling documents assembled by a team. Document assembly includes all the steps to work together as a team to create, review, revise, reuse, and publish documents. Sections of a document can be assigned to team members (also known as "editors") directly from within the word processing document. Once a section is assigned, a notification is sent to the editor indicating its assignment. This notification gives editors access to the documentation for their assigned section. Editors also have access to a central location to edit sections assigned to them. Editors may also search within the document and use content from one or more content repositories to assist in document assembly. For example, editors can find best practice documents, templates, recently produced data, legal status, etc. that can be inserted within the document. Newly created documents can also be saved to new and / or existing content...

Abstract

Simplified assembly of documentation assembled by teams. Assign sections of documents to team members from within word processing documents. Once the document template is opened by the user, different sections within the document can be assigned to team members. Once a section is assigned, a notification is sent to the team member indicating the assignment. The notification allows the team member to access the section assigned to him. The team members can also access a central location to edit the sections assigned to them. Team members can also search and use content from one or more content libraries from within the document to aid in document assembly. Newly created content can also be saved to new and / or existing content libraries. The content is then available to other team members working on the same or a different project.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This patent application claims priority under 35 USC § 1119(e) to US Provisional Patent Application No. 60 / 626,313, filed November 8, 2004, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Background technique [0003] Document assembly is often a very time-consuming and difficult task. This is especially true when documents are better authored by teams of individuals. Typically, documents created by teams include users who act as document managers. Documentation administrators need to find the correct template, divide the template into sections, and assign sections to individual editors for creation. A proposal is one type of document that can be created by a team. [0004] Today, teams spend many hours searching and recreating content for their documentation. Time was also spent trying to share information and coordinate the process. Contents of the invention [0005] In short, embodiments of the present invention relate t...
