The invention discloses a firefly algorithm-based load model parameter determination method and apparatus. The method comprises the steps of establishing an objective function of parameters of a powerload model; calculating a target function value of each firefly individual in the firefly population; calculating the maximum brightness of each firefly individual according to the target function value of each firefly individual; according to the maximum brightness of each firefly individual, determining a firefly king, a preparatory firefly king and a common individual in the firefly population; and determining target parameters of the power load model according to the firefly king, the prepared firefly king and the common individuals. Thus, through the firefly king and the preparatory firefly king, the accuracy of the calculation result of the power load model can be improved, meanwhile, the stability of the output result in the later iteration period can be ensured, and the accuracy of parameter identification can be effectively improved.
