The method comprises the steps of adopting a thermal imager module for collecting the temperatures of different positions of a face of a to-be-detected target in a non-contact mode and generating an infrared thermogram sequence; receiving the pulse signal of a processor by using a steering engine module, and adjusting the acquisition direction of the thermal imager module; enabling the processor to receive the infrared thermogram sequence of the thermal imager module and position the position of the human face in the infrared thermogram, adjusting the acquisition direction of the thermal imager module to enable the human face to be detected to be located in the detection area, and positioning two interested areas of the nostrils and the mouth from the infrared thermogram of the human face; and according to the extracted temperature data time sequences of the nostrils and the mouth,judging whether the to-be-detected target performs mouth breathing and the mouth breathing intensity or not, and generating a breathing report.
