Embodiment Construction

[0076] interference blanking

[0077] Embodiments described herein relate to methods aimed at minimizing the impact of non-predictable pulsed interfering emissions in the same frequency band from co-located radio systems on the performance of radio receiver systems.

[0078] A specific example that encounters problems with co-located impulsive interferers is the Air-to-Ground (ATG) downlink. That is, the transmission from the base station to the aircraft terminal. The ATG communication link may be based on the 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard operating as part of the Complementary Ground Component (CGC) service within the S-band Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) frequency allocation (2170MHz to 2200MHz reception). This can be affected by pulsed interference due to the second harmonic of the aircraft's high powered Air Traffic Control Radio Beacon System (ATCRBS) / Mode-S transponder (2180MHz).

[0079] It should be noted that the acronym ATC is used here to refer to both A...

Abstract

Systems and methods for cancellation of interferences from interference signals are provided. In one embodiment, the system includes a cancellation circuit, and the cancellation circuit is configuredto receive, from a first antenna, a first signal comprising an interference component from the interference signals and a desired component from desired signals; to receive a second signal comprisingan interference component from the interference signals and received with an antenna or frequency different from that of the first signal. The interference component in the second signal is stronger than that the interference component in the first signal. The cancellation circuit is also configured to derive a cancellation signal according to the second signal; subtract the cancellation signal from the first signal to substantially remove the interference component from the first signal to generate an output signal; and output the output signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for mitigating interference from interfering signals. In particular, but not limitation, the present disclosure relates to canceling interference from received signals. Background technique [0002] The detection of wireless signals can be affected by interference from nearby transmitting systems (eg, co-sited impulsive interferer radio systems). Minimizing the impact of co-located interferers, including impulsive interferers, is a common problem for mobile platforms with multiple radio systems. [0003] Filtering can be used to distinguish out-of-band interference, but the benefit of filtering is limited when the interference itself is in-band (within the frequency bandwidth of the receive channel). [0004] Again, mobile platforms offer very limited range to re-site new antennas to reduce this interference. In the case of an aircraft platform, a large number of radio systems must compete for a ...
