Abstract

Providing a random factoid in response to a user trigger is provided. Aspects are directed to a device, method, and computer-readable medium to provide random factoids responsive to a triggering event. Various inputs such as user taps, gestures, voice commands, environment commands, etc., are monitored to recognize a triggering event associated with the random factoid system. Upon determining thatthe input is a triggering event, a random factoid is randomly selected and provided to the user. The factoid can be a fun fact or a helpful learning tip. In some examples, the random factoid system provides a contextual random factoid based one or more contextual factors, such as geographic location of the device, the user's interaction history, the user's demographic data, etc., thus providing an improved user experience.

Description

Background technique [0001] Computing device applications are increasingly being developed with intuitive designs such that features of the applications are intuitively apparent to users. For example, applications often include various shortcut keys and features to help users use the application more efficiently. In addition, developers regularly update computing device applications to provide new application features and functions. However, some application features may not be intuitively obvious, and users may not be aware of them. One exemplary application type is a smart assistant application for providing relevant information to a user. For example, smart assistants are often used to provide directions, find local attractions, weather updates, and more. Helping users understand the capabilities of a computing device or application such as a smart assistant is a challenging problem, especially for applications that regularly acquire new capabilities and features.
