The method comprises the following steps of acquiring current image information of eachunit reading region in real time; setting lighting brightness in the corresponding unit reading region to be a value at least larger than a first brightness value when that human image information exists in the current image information is judged, wherein the first brightness value is minimum brightness value required by a reader for reading in the unit reading region; and setting the lighting brightness in the corresponding unit reading region to be a second brightness value when that the human image information does not exist in the current image information is judged, wherein the second brightness value is smaller than the first brightness value. With the lighting control method of the library, proposed by the invention, the brightness of a lighting lamp can be controlled according toreal-time position distribution of the reader, the lighting resource is saved, and the reading experience of the reader is enhanced.
