Abstract

Embodiments of the invention provide a lexicon-based entry processing method and apparatus. The method comprises the steps of obtaining an entry; storing the entry in a temporary lexicon; in the temporary lexicon, setting a validity period for the entry; and if the entry is not displayed in the validity period, deleting the entry in the temporary lexicon. On one hand, the entry with the timeliness can be stored in the temporary lexicon and can directly serve as a candidate item when being input by a user, so that the user is prevented from inputting characters one by one and the input efficiency of the user is improved; and on the other hand, the entry in the temporary lexicon is automatically deleted through display operation in the validity period, so that the capacity of the temporary lexicon is ensured to be relatively small, the capacity of a lexicon of an input method system is ensured to be larger than that of an existing lexicon, the quantity of entries in the lexicon is greatly reduced, the accuracy of a preferred word during user input is ensured, and reasonable resource occupation of computing devices such as a CPU, a memory and the like is ensured.
