Embodiments of the invention provide a method and an apparatus for migrating a virtual machine to an IaaS cloud platform. The method and apparatus are used for quickly, efficiently and automatically migrating the virtual machine to the IaaS cloud platform. The method comprises the steps of initializing a migration environment; according to a virtual machine migration directory, initializing a to-be-migrated virtual machine and injecting an automatic file system repair tool and an automatic initialization processing tool into the to-be-migrated virtual machine; starting the to-be-migrated virtual machine, and based on a virtualized environment, the automatic file system repair tool and the automatic initialization processing tool, performing file system repair and initialization processing on the to-be-migrated virtual machine; compressing a system disk injected with user data in the to-be-migrated virtual machine; based on a cloud environment SDK and configuration information of the to-be-migrated virtual machine, creating a cloud host by using an empty file mirror image in the IaaS cloud platform; and shutting down the created cloud host, replacing a hard disk file of the cloud host in the IaaS cloud platform with a compressed system disk file in the to-be-migrated virtual machine, and starting the cloud host.
