[0090] The following examples further illustrate the features and advantages of the present disclosure. It is to be expressly understood, however, that the specific materials and amounts employed, as well as other conditions and details, should not be interpreted in a manner that unduly limits the scope of the present disclosure.

[0091]In the following examples, Sheet 1 is paper stock available from Geami, Raleigh, N.C. under the trade designation "GEAMI SUSTAINABLE PROTECTIVE PACKAGING" The paper was purchased with a slit length "L" of 10 millimeters (mm), a distance "S" between the slits of 3 mm, and a length "B" of the bridging region of 5 mm (see Figure 1D ). Sheet 2 was a spunbond nonwoven commercially available from Fiberweb, Old Hickory, Tenn., having a basis weight of 45 grams per square meter. Sheet 3 is a rugged, hydroentangled nonwoven having a basis weight of 65 g / m2. Raw hydroentangled and flat nonwovens are commercially available from Ahlstrom, Windsor Lock...

Abstract

The present invention discloses a cleaning article comprising a working surface and a capture surface, the working surface being formed from a first end of a plurality of channels. The channel is formed by a plurality of strands of the interrupted slit sheet, which in an initial state extend in a first direction and together define a plane. The plurality of strands are attached to each other at bridging regions. At least some of the strands are unrolled from the initial state and spaced from each other between the bridging regions to provide the plurality of channels, and at least some of the strands spaced from each other extend toward the out-of-plane distortion. Also disclosed is a cleaning implement comprising the cleaning article, a method for making the cleaning implement, and a laminate of spunbond nonwoven interrupted slit sheets.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This patent application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application 61 / 917,680, filed December 18, 2013, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. Background technique [0003] Cloths, wipes, brooms and mops are used to wipe and clean surfaces covered with dirt, dust and debris. In general, most cloths and wipes are not effective at trapping and retaining dirt and debris particles, large and small. Cleaning sheets, as shown in US Pat. No. 7,691,760 (Bergsten et al.), have been developed to include adhesive on the working surface of the cleaning sheet to assist in retaining dirt and debris particles. [0004] Many times the surface to be cleaned of the cleaning blade is too flat, so only the leading edge of the cleaning blade will be loaded with material. Various techniques have been disclosed for providing cleaning sheets with raised portions or recessed portions to more eff...
